Our Mission & Vision

The Mission of UNDRGRND Church is to build a virtual community that actively ministers to the oppressed through principles of Gathering and Giving. We are multi-denominational, multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and inclusive of all people. Through monetary donations, relief funds are distributed to communities and individuals in need of financial assistance each week. Through conversation, narrative, and interactive dialog, we will explore the Holy Bible and its wisdom responsibly. We are committed to God, God's work, and all God’s creation. We are dedicated to giving as we receive. We unify on both what we have in common and on what makes us different. We practice empathy and radical love as often as possible as we acknowledge our imperfections. We believe Jesus’ greatest commandment is to Love God and Love People. This is the founding Mission & Vision of UNDRGRND.

A Theology of UNDRGRND

In the Acts of the Apostles, the writer Luke gives an account of Paul’s journey through scripture which includes a series of arrests, protests, and petitions on account of God and God’s people. In one instance, Paul was seized by Roman officials and forced to comply with a judicial ruling of house imprisonment. During that time, Paul was believed to continue writing to secret followers of “The Way,” later identified by the name Christians. In those days, communities at Corinth, Ephesus, Thessaloniki (Thessalonica), and territories across the Middle East and Africa were collecting and initiating themselves safely in secret as forces standing against a corrupt Roman government. Meetings, rituals, and miracles were often held and performed in houses of community members or those in society who understood the mission of Christians in 1st Century AD. They were encouraged to hide and keep low profiles, or they’d risk the danger of being exposed and killed for meeting in secret. They heard and believed Jesus of Nazareth was resurrected by God after the Roman state murdered him. They were convinced that through their belief in Jesus, God would save and fortify them, and they would become his people. Paul’s established spiritual authority, demonstration of power, and paper trail of letters became an alternative method for sharing and leading Christians through what he believed was God’s will. This was indeed a church underground. Now, in a time of Pandemic, political upheaval, and social unrest once again, The UNDRGRND Church seeks to provide an alternative space online for the oppressed to gather in safety and spirit for religious revival, spiritual renewal, and political revolution.

There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally, the Lord and creator of all things - reverenced with different gender pronouns and attributions by God's own children.

Jesus Christ
He is the resurrected Son of God. We observe the divinity, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and follow His example of God-consciousness as a norm of the Christian life. For He alone is our crucified and risen Lord, who came to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to Himself and that He seeks in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin. We believe that through Jesus we are saved from the penalty of sin. And that God promises to all who trust God’s forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, God’s presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in God’s kingdom which has no end. We Believe in the second coming of Christ to rapture the church into everlasting bliss.

Holy Spirit
The divine person, sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower, and bring about the creative and redemptive work of God in the world in time and eternity – in the Holy Spirit which dwells among us, dwells within us, and guides us through life by binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.

God called the world into being, created humanity as a reflection of God’s image, and set before humanity the ways of life and death. Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all people; and those who believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit and become the children of God.

Holy Bible
The Holy Bible is the inspired word of God, and should be interpreted responsibly through the loving lenses of Jesus Christ, with an active faith praxis of religion, God, and all God’s creation.

Church Body

The Virtual and In-Person Church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel. We Believe that God calls us into the Church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be God’s servants in the service of men, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to join God in God’s passion and victory.

We believe membership consists of Spiritual Baptism in the faith of Jesus Christ, the tithe (10% of one’s income), and good standing with other online community members. However, one’s situation will certainly not prohibit membership. We believe our Great Commission is to lead people to God's consciousness through the teachings of Jesus Christ. We Believe that all of the baptized belong body and soul to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, notwithstanding race, gender, sexual orientation, social class, or creed. We Believe in the inviolable sacred dignity of all persons. We believe in the practice of ethical principles and revolutionary acts of love and kindness. We believe in the importance of personal change to inspire social change and promote peace. We Believe in the power of peace and work for nonviolent solutions to local, national, and international problems.

Prayer and Healing
Healing and prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the Church in this present age.

God has called us to promote peace by caring for the disenfranchised and marginalized persons on the fringes of our society. Through acts of giving and financial donations and contributions we will consistently offer financial support for those in need. Through relief funding we will address suspicious systems, markets, and nations that deny the inalienable rights of any human sector.
